One might hate her music, but Ruslana is someone to be reckoned with in Ukraine… She even told Barroso what she thought about the EU’s cowardice…
The EU should impose sanctions on Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych and on his closest circle, said on Tuesday, 21 January, the Ukrainian singer Ruslana, speaking in Brussels in front of the plenary of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). She also disclosed the name of at least one Austrian bank in which, according to her, high Ukrainian officials are stashing their fortune.
“I am just a singer and a simple girl”, she told me “but why is it that the [EU enlargement Commissioner] Stefan Füle is on good terms with someone like Klyuyev, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine? All the people in government have their money in Austria, or in other countries in the West. They started panicking. They are ready to use force in order to keep their position.”
